I was mostly gone from the bay area for twenty years and here are some remarks I must make about the Bay area after four years now.

The horrors of gentrification seem overblown. 

Sometimes people don't seem to acknowledge the existence of their fellow human beings.

Problems in the bay area seem to get little serious attention.

Any claim that the Bay Area is very very interesting is questionable.

Tech adds some excitement, but also concerns to the Bay Area.
