To say out loud "I am an American!" Often induces a weird power drug like feeling. We are not just a country about great wealth or power, but a country with a destiny beyond base worldly things. When I dance I often dance to this, and when I wake I picture this. What is this America? Perhaps Walt Whitman touched on it or Edger Allen Poe or Bob Dylan. And it is something? Lincoln just won't ever die and neither will Thomas Edison. This is not England, and Canada means little though there critics are often right, it matter nothing to us. We will just give Toronto a fancy McDonald's and continue being Americans. The world shaking their head in bewilderment, as our TV makes them try our Hubba Bubba Chewing Gum and get a bright orange baseball cap.
